Hatched To Hop - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Hatched To Hop - Lincoln Park Zoo

Tiny froglets have just hatched new,
The Solomon Island leaf kind,
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo,
So small they can be hard to find.
Just an eighth of an inch in size,
But miniature frogs they be,
Skipping the tadpole phase to rise
To the occasion frogfully.
Why do these frogs skip tadpoling?
Inquiring minds have knowing need.
Maybe these frogs just have a thing
Of hopping to it - yes indeed!

Congrats, froglets for hatching out,
A welcome addition no doubt.

This is fascinating stuff! In all my eighty years I never heard of frogs that skipped the tadpole stage! Thank you for this information!
