Harsh Words When Uncalled For Poem by Francis Duggan

Harsh Words When Uncalled For

'Tis easy to cause offense to others if you are that way inclined
Though 'tis far easier to like those who are caring and kind
Those who cause you offense you well may forgive
But they won't be your friends without them you can live
How can you like one who to you has been rude
That person from your life you have a right to exclude
If you do not show respect it you cannot receive
An old saying that remains relevant and on it I believe
What we receive in return is only our due
What goes around comes around remains ever true
With offensive words you can make for yourself an enemy
And with 'tis nice to be nice one can only agree
Harsh words when uncalled for can be hurtful and cruel
And for resentment they can be an inflammable fuel.
