Hampered By This Cold Room

Rating: 5.0

not writing much now
cold at night etc is not
inductive to writing thus
I do not feel enthusiastic

been having long rests
coz so many handicaps
obstacles to writing here
is an interspace gallery

if I had remained in Jakarta
I would be a 1000 poems plus
up on here and not hampered
by this cold room in winter now

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Denis Martindale 20 June 2014

Having endured months without the central heating on, I wore 4 pairs of trousers,3 jackets and walked around the house like the Michelin Man. The thermal socks and thermal snowboots helped. I was writing poems from midnight to dawn without complaints as complaining solved nothing. I managed to reduce my electricity costs by hundreds of pounds in those months. But I sympathise with others who have found the cold nights disturbing their poetic flow and wonder how many great poems have been lost to humanity because of the cold nights...
