Guide To How Cats Work Poem by Paula Glynn

Guide To How Cats Work

Growing up from their mother, also hiding under the bed
The kitten does learn to make bread:
They learn to knead with their soft paws
With purrs and pleasure impossible to ignore.

Soon they confidently march their territory
Patrolling your stylish house and large green garden
Watching out for other unwelcome cats
Watching out for other enemy predators with abilities they lack.

Your cat will rub his or her luxurious fur on you
Marking their territory upon you, giving others a clue
Letting other animals know you belong solely to them
Safeguarding their valuable cosy home under the bed.

Your cat will swish his or her expressive tail
Letting you know their mood and even if they want food
Letting you know what they're feeling
What they want done: of which you are dealing.

Cats eyesight and hearing stellar
Their hyper senses protecting them
And protecting them from immediate danger
Especially when your home is invaded by a stranger.

Food cats do love: especially cheese and tuna
Dreamies and cat pate go down a treat
With every cat you meet as you walk down the street
Cats needing meat: their bodies unable to be vegetarian.

Cats super intelligent: understanding emotions
Understanding when their owners are upset
Understanding sickness in their owners and regret
Understanding your baby is vulnerable whom they do protect.

Cats needing regular veterinary treatment
Cats needing their claws trimmed: NEVER removed
Cats needing clean water and food bowls every time
Cats needing pain management and seeing sick signs.

Treasure your cat: he or she can be a soulmate
Your cat could be your fate and your best friend
Your cat doesn't judge you or insult you or let it end
So protect that connection and bond with happiness.
