Growing Old With Misty Poem by Phil Soar

Growing Old With Misty

Her age has now caught up with her
She moves gingerly, but still enjoys the walks
No longer able to run, her limbs ache
Her arthritic legs trouble her
Where once she ran so fast she could barely draw breath
Now it's all so slow, and laboured
Nevertheless, we amble
Our love for her is undiminished

She loves to lie under the trees in the garden (on nice days)
Her favourite game with tennis balls is still bareable
Though she knows when enough is enough
When she sleeps we watch her
Her body twitching as she dreams
Maybe remembering her lost speed
A border collie through and through
She may be old, but her time's not due
