Gremlin Poem by GREENWOLFE 1962

Gremlin

Rating: 5.0

'Where have you been? ', I said to her,
'I've missed your loving song.'
'Over the hill, ' she said to me,
'For that's where I belong.'

'Tis not so true, ' said I to her,
'You should be here with me.
I need your love more than before,
I'm crying, don't you see? '

'I know, ' she said, ' I see your tears,
And Heaven sees them too.
And that is why they sent for me
To come and comfort you.'

'I'm sorry, if I called you back, '
I said, ' It's not been long.
It's just that I have missed so much
Your love since you've been gone.'

'I know, ' she said, ' It's much too much
For some, this grief and pain.
But death is part of life, you see,
So how can we complain? '

'You really must get over me,
You've more of life to live.
It's time you let your spirit rest,
You must yourself, forgive.'

'I know, ' I said, 'Your words are true,
I'll do just as you say.
But can I tell you once again
I'm sorry for that day? '

'Of course you can, ' she said to me,
'I always understood,
I would have told you, go ahead,
If say the words, I could.'

I said, ' How good to hear your voice
And see you once again. '
She said that now she had to leave,
To not return again.

I asked her if we'd ever meet
And talk again someday.
She said, ' It's bound to happen.....as
It's always Heaven's way.'

So off she went on up the hill,
Then stopped and looked once more.
She raised her paw and waved goodbye
Then faded, nevermore.

I dried my tears then went to bed.
But now, without regret.
For I had spent some time with her,
The cat I can't forget.

Lucky you are to have an afterlife experience with your cat. They come back to check on the people they loved so much in their life times. My shaggy mutt Jasmine and my collie, Lad came back to visit me on different occassions.Have you ever read The Rainbow Bridge which was written anonymously by an animal shelter person? It's about the Otherside of life....I plan to write about my psychic experiences someday probably in short story form or rather wordy poems-I'm not sure yet what my Muse has up her sleeves. I enjoyed your poetry...very inspiring.
