Great Storm Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Great Storm

Unrelenting storm, nature's fury breaking asunder
Blinding cascading rain with battering winds
Hurricane howling force sweeping all before it.
Giant trees uprooted, rivers overflowing
Power lines crashing down, thunder roaring
Darts of lightning striking, burning, destroying
Houses flooded, drains and sewers overflowing
Seas churning in wild ferocity, waves high as houses
Whipped up by deadly winds battering coastlines
Smashing down walls and sea defences.
No trains running with lines under water
With hundreds of miles of farmland flooded.
People panicking in despair with lives at risk
Waters rising steadily and wildlife drowning.
