Gratitude Poem by Annalee Somerville

Gratitude

Grateful was hard for me to be,
I had no idea what it meant,
I knew it was beyond thankful,
but had no one to be thankful to yet.

Then one day, Spirit Crow,
swooped down from high in the sky,
he brought with him a message,
your gratitude comes from deep inside.

Think of how the air breathes,
life to your heart and lungs,
and, that every early morning,
you're blessed with rising Grandfather Sun.

As he flew back high to the sky,
a feather fell near my feet,
and I was filled with gratitude,
for the guidance I did seek.

Today, I am filled with gratitiude,
for all the blessings that I always see,
I walk connected to Mother Earth,
as Great Spirit sets me free.

I am connected to everything,
something I long had forgot,
but Spirit Crow reminded me,
and, I am grateful, gratitude was taught.
