Grandad Mekin Poem by Jennifer A Heskins

Grandad Mekin

Saying goodbye is never easy.
Hugging him one last time.
Feeling his arms around me,
Trying not to cry,
Hold him tight, for as long as I can.
Nothing can stop his pain.

Weak and tried, body giving in,
It's hard for him to speak,
Staying strong for the family
Eyes closing slowly,
Weak and tried, he can't hold on.

Saying goodbye, closing the door.
Crying in side, walking away.
Look at mum tears in her eyes.
Holding her hand,
telling her it's what he want

Grandad so tall, strong old man,
Best Grandad a girl could want,
You never let us down,
We cry not in pain, but in hope,
We will see you again, one day
