Government Shutdown

Rating: 5.0

We are hours away
from a possible shutdown
of the U.S. government.

Lawmakers and politicians
are scrambling
to try to avoid it.

My son works for that same
federal government. A few
weeks ago he applied

to take next Monday off.
The funny thing is,
if the government does shut down,

then he has to go to work!
If the government does not shut down,
then he can take the day off.

You see, he is classified
as 'essential personnel',
so he cannot stay home

if the government shuts down.
He has to go to work,
even though he may not get paid.

Ironic, isn't it?
Or maybe it's moronic,
but that's the way it is.

A clever way to tell the tale. It affects some of my family, too. Good writing.

I was unable to reply to your comment below so I'll do it here. It's a picture of the government. You didn't expect it to be fast did you? As for the shutdown, each party will blame the other, and someone from each will blame President Trump. That's the way it is.
