Goodbye
I will not pour my heart out, nor
Attempt to, why, exaggerate;
It's way past time to turn the page—
Or burn the book to hide the rage!
I loved you—oh, I loved in vain…
I turned my back, fell to the floor,
Surrendered one long, aching sigh—
My longing got one day too late!
I'll part in peace, embrace the pain,
And smile and say one last goodbye…
