Good Hope Men's Prayer Breakfast Poem by Luke Easter

Good Hope Men's Prayer Breakfast

01/13/07 Saturday morning promptly at ten,
That is when the prayer breakfast begins,
The gathering of members, guests and speaker,
A 15-year-old phenom, who's soon to be a preacher.

Mmmmm, the usual variety of breakfast meats,
Grits, eggs, potatoes, French toast with syrup so sweet,
All lined up in a row with fresh fruit nice and neat,
There's coffee, water, juice and an apple cobbler treat.

Soon it's upstairs in the sanctuary again to settle down,
We should have gone outside for a few blocks to walk around,
Now it's eleven-thirty and the services have begun,
With prayers and worship to the Father in the name of the Son.

Deacons Smith, Parks and both Anderson's led the way,
Brother Herod sang a solo accompanied by Cliff and D.J.
Bro. Greene, Rev. Rogers then The Golden Harmonizers,
Deacon Davis let us know these were just the appetizers.

Brother Cash spoke from Book 1 of Psalms, one thru three,
Blessed is the man, who walketh not with the ungodly,
Nor stand by sinners then sitting among those who scorn,
Verses four thru six, they'll have eternity to weep and mourn.

He spoke about fast food, Burger King, having it your way,
How the world wants everything and it has to be today,
This is one of the reasons many hearts are so hollow,
Remember King David as an example for all to follow,

As we reside in the days of the me first generation,
Easy to be swallowed up in the devil's temptations,
The sermon by Brother Brian Cash was loud and clear,
Be like the tree planted with the rivers of God flowing near.

Pastor Bradford suggested we do this again, not later but soon,
I'll take that to mean sometime before the next full moon,
After the service Brother Greene raised his hand for all to stop.
Saying, 'next time instead of breakfast we do lunch with pork chops.'
