Good Old Gospel Days Poem by Luke Easter

Good Old Gospel Days

I liked the 'Good Old Gospel Days' when people dressed for success,
You turned on channel 5 'I Love Lucy' for comedy, she was simply the best.

Walking in church singing 'I Love Jesus He's My Savoir'
While looking at your kids, this is God's house, be on your best behavior.

You'd hear the minister preach, tears would fall from your eyes,
He would talk about the Rapture, you’d be looking at the skies.

Every sinew of our body says, He will be coming for us one day;
Those 'Good Old Gospel Days' have never, ever led us astray.

Just what is it that has so many wearing clothes of hate?
Jealousy, envy, bitterness to spread chaos, oh, they just can’t wait.

Where are the “Good Old Gospel Days” & why is it hard to find?
Because the devil has taken control of many a Christian mind.

We have to dress ourselves with the Armor of our Lord and Savior,
Constantly wearing the uniform of Christ Jesus in our daily behavior.

Sometimes not sparing the rod when our children need to be baptized,
They too will learn early it’s a sin not to grow up & lead productive lives.

Gospel means Good News and that’s something daily we should spread,
Start every day with The Lord’s Prayer clearing Satan from your head.

Stop infiltrating our bodies with an overdosed excuse of prescription drugs,
These are the times when there needs to be something called tough love.

Remember, you will never get a second chance to make a first impression,
There will be times when showing others will involve teaching a hard earned lesson.

The majority of the world today is in such an unscrupulous and chaotic state,
At the second coming of Christ Jesus, do you think He’ll sit on a cloud and wait?

Tell me, how many times must it be repeated that “Narrow Is The Gate”?
We simply cannot leisurely sit back and allow the devil to continue and create.

Havoc and frustration is the name he continually shoots out through bullets called hate,
Only the good news from the bible will stop the evil one from adding doom to our fate.

Most people are too young to remember listening to the “Possum” on a Philco radio,
And the way he sang Amazing Grace would stir the very depths of your soul.

It was so much easier then with fewer distractions to let the Lord take control,
Either people do not understand the seriousness of this or they just don’t know.

To experience the humor of Lucy you don’t have to be born in the 50’s craze,
All that’s needed is a television to relive those clean fun filled times today.

We thank You Heavenly Father for the spiritually enhanced poetic gift,
For others on this earthly world through rhyme You’ve allowed us to uplift.

With many trials & tribulations as Christians we must continually lead the way,
By faithfully setting the standard as in the **Good Old Gospel Days**
