God Looks At The World Poem by Mark Parry

God Looks At The World

Why is it that whenever
I make an important point
Religious men stop their ears?
Leaving God displeased.

Abraham, Amos and Isaiah
All had something to say
And yet those who listened
Did not understand.
Leaving God displeased.

"I know what I will do, "
he said one day
(Talking to one's self
Is a divine problem)
"I will send my son to
Make my meaning clear."
He was clearly naïve.

So in to history came
‘God as man':
To teach,
to pray
and inspire:
Four gospels,
assorted letters,
apostolic acts
and a weird revelation
of things to come.
God was not just
Displeased
He was furious!

"This is not how it is meant to be! "
God cried as he looked upon the earth.
"My message is of freedom:
Yet everyone wants to bind their neighbour
In rules and regulations,
Under principalities and powers,
Burdens and Brimstones,
Pathways and pronouncements.
The cords and the nails
Bind my message still
.
My son entered this world a free man,
He left this world a free man,
So who covered his memory in chains?
