God I Love The Wind! Poem by Vincent Bayer

God I Love The Wind!

Rating: 5.0

Like a herd of startled deer
They flee across an empty winter park...
Driven forward by some unseen giant
The leaf creatures leap and bound
in endless shades of orange and brown
Still others, desperate to be free
Throw themselves from bending trees
soaring, between the earth and sky
Like temporary birds they fly
God I love the wind...

Like a pod of migrating whales
The cumulus clouds move in unison
Across an azure august sky...
And just as fast as a boy can run
Their shadows follow, one by one
Below them on the summer ground
The footprints of the clouds
God I love the wind...
