Give And Take

The friendship between their grandfathers
precludes you-to-me combat
between Diomedes for Greece
and Glaukos for Troy.

They seal the preclusion
by exchange of armour.
Zeus weakens the brain of Glaukos
to take bronze and give gold.

('Zeus' might be 'the aging process':
Hector calls Glaukos 'old'.)
