George Best. Poem by Glenn Ford

George Best.

Dear George of united a magician on the ball
Ball skills, balance, power, George you had them all
You struck fear in defenders hearts when dribbling down the wing
You would take the ball, score a goal and make the whole crowd sing.

Your silky well timed passing, your deft touch in the box
George, you were eighteen carat gold right down to your socks
Your legacy of stunning goals etched out in my mind
You were before your time George, you were one of a kind.

I wish you were still with us, to watch you play once more
To show the world how good you are like you did before
Sadly you are gone now George I hope you enjoy your rest
There will never be another like the fabulous George Best.
