Gen From The Corner Of My Eye Poem by Mill Field

Gen From The Corner Of My Eye

From the corner of my eye I was aware of movement -
Through the window, from across the passage-way -
Some-one, or some-thing, was trying to attract my attention;
Gesticulating frantically as though to call me outside.

It was heavily quiet inside the room, rather frightening,
But out I went into the storm.

A tree, more of a sapling really,
Seemed as though it was attempting escape or to fly.

My shadow in the dim glow of a swinging light,
In reciprocal motion and intent, perhaps,
Also began to sway wildly, ever more wildly, from side to side.

The tree and I have roots, however; the storm subsided.
