Gecko Sheds - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Gecko Sheds - Lincoln Park Zoo

Henkel's leaf tailed gecko I be.
Who was Henkel? Who the heck knows?
Called leaf tailed I guess cuz on me
Camoflaged as some leaves it shows.
Gecko a term for sounds we make.
We don't talk like the Geico dude.
Limbs with suction cups for suck sake.
Can drop tail on predators rude.
Nocturnally eating yum bugs.
Day time on a tree we hang out.
Skin shed time we help with tugs.
Always skin in the game - no doubt.

I'm home at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
So visitors - this shed's for you.
