Gaza Boy Poem by ghaleb hamade

Gaza Boy

A little Gaza boy lost his crutch
A tree branch it was not that much
To him it was his solid other leg
To feel complete and not have to beg
Did not forget it or leave it some where
He loved it dearly treated it with care
Why wouldn’t he and it was so rare
Palestinian wood you can’t find no more
For all the trees have gone to war
Most of them will never come back
Phosphorus bombs turn their green to black
Now he has to wait for charity wood
In the same line were before he stood
To get another branch to help him run
Chase one legged shadow to have some fun
But this time he promises he’ll never lose it again
Not to a land mine not to a war plane
Not to Gaza bullets that fall like rain
