Full Moon Poem by Dorian van de Braam

Full Moon

Winter's Full Moon

Tonight I watched the full moon
supersized, exquisitely elegant
as it rose slowly and gracefully
as leafless branches bled colour
languid, etiolating from pale yellow
to the white goddess we know well;

Silent, ascending discreetly towards
its midnight zenith among the stars,
blue, sparkling pin prick diamonds
travelling fast as frozen winds
accelerate clouds through ice
adieu, scudding across the night

In awe, I espy this pulchritude
Luna gods that rule the world
inexorably drawing tidal threats
that frail humans must respect
with deference and scant power
that expresses our flawed frailty
showing deference to her majesty
selenite queen among dark craters
