From The Heart Poem by Luke Easter

From The Heart

What’s the key phrase in Proverbs 4: 22?
It starts, “For they are life to all those who…”
Giving sincere meaning to everything we speak,
The heart can be strong when the mind is weak.

It’s the strength of our power in Proverbs 4: 23,
Gifted through promised rights as those who believe,
Insensitive behavior will look back with remorse,
As captain of a ship by the heart hold your course.

Remember that action speaks louder than words,
You cannot get beat up by what you have heard,
Adjectives, nouns or verbs won’t knock you down,
But, on occasion they will spin your head around.

It’s not always easy to separate the truth from a lie,
Damage is irreparable and here’s an example of why,
A judge instructs the jury to disregard the last remark,
But, it stays on the mind when spoken from the heart.

Jails are crowded because of something over heard,
When people based their actions on the spoken word,
A lot of individuals are buried in a grave premature,
As emotions took over even though they weren’t sure.

In what direction has your heart guided your mind today?
Are you bringing others closer or keeping them at bay?
Would you be happy if someone was treating you that way?
Not only from their actions also, in what they had to say.

Sadly, we only come to our senses after it is way too late,
Maybe not incarnation but death permanently seals our fate,
OK, you have a handle on emotions and that is really great,
Eve thought she had the same thing until the apple she ate.

Yes! There’s a covenant right with a truly circumcised heart,
Don't let stubbornness make your promise stop & not start,
How do good actors win an academy award playing a part?
By sincerity in their role when it’s done, 'From The Heart.”
