From Hearts Like Tantalus Poem by Nicholas Mulrooney

From Hearts Like Tantalus

You are the fruit, who's taste I desire
That, before I may bite, cruel winds carry higher
Those ever-quenching waters just under my lips
That the tide tears away as I try to sip
I long to just jump
I long to just dive
But I float on forever,
Never to die
