In the loving memory of Eve Croft
My friend who died of cancer in 1969
Friendship is a bond
that can out live our mortal coil.
She was older than me
when we first met
and older than me
when the angels took her away.
Yet the good times we shared
live on and on in my memory.
Our ages never made a difference,
it was the friendship that grew
between us that did.
I turned into a better person for it
and I will always remember her
until the day that I die,
hoping our friendship will extend
to heaven when my turn comes.
