Friend And Mentor Poem by Narayana Raghavan

Friend And Mentor

Sparkling in sky, in the dark of night
silence every where, peeping through windows
saw a flash of light, waiting for day and night
eons of rebirth, searching in endless sky

My heart! ' be brave' he is near you, eyes open
wide, a pounding heart, tears welled up
a lump choking my throat, streams of sweat-
pouring in that cool weather, filled with soft breeze.
a warm embrace, my friend, lord and mentor
show me the right path to live with Dharma,
only mantra in my lips, deep from my heart

when all doors are closed, when I shiver,
evil ones rule, adamant, no mercy their norm

extend your palms, let me hold them, feel its warmth
fragrance never ending that of wild magnolias
soothing nostrils deep in mind, overwhelming joy
flying high, slow and steady, touching skies of mirth
where non violence and truth rules, justice prevails-
for weak, poor and the fragile.

a friend unique, ever lasting for ages to come
impartial and inspiring, no greed or envy
fullness in and out, like a wish tree, a bounty of knowledge
decent from milky ocean, the confluence of mighty seas
never ending universe, to earth as a friend and mentor
to spread the message of love, mercy and good governance.
