Freedoms Mate Poem by AlissaMarie Unknown

Freedoms Mate

The path of freedom only
a few scores away,
she stops to breathe in
a few arrays.

She bends her legs,
a pop echoes in the
air, now feeling
complete she travels
up the path to her freedom
ever more.

At the sharp turn, her head
tossed to the left, she
guides herself off the path
to take a closer look at the
certainties she must endure.

She steps back onto the
path walking like a goddess
she smiles with envy. For
all of those who have come
before her, never did what
she was about to recieve.

The freedom she has longed
for only a few feet away she
stops yet again, at yet another
curve to hum a little rhyme
her mother sang to her.

With yet another task complete,
she plucks a flower to put in her
hair. She holds her head up high
and ventures through the gate
she dissapears and unites with
her long lost mate.

(2005)
(Dedicated to my gramother and grandfather
who now have been reunited.)
