Four Simple Words Poem by John Wheeler

Four Simple Words

If only I could, I would steal you away!
Away to a place I could see you each day.
Paradise it's called, where I wish you to be...
Together, forever, just you and me.
I dreamed of such beauty each morning and night...
The setting, the weather, all perfectly right.
The sun beams shine warmth though I'm still a shiver...
Because I am worried of how I'll deliver.
Four simple words... that is all they are!
Impossible it seems, like wishing on a star.
I'm seeking to learn this one simple truth...
Searching and hoping for this fountain of youth.
To be found in this woman who I totally adore.
She set sail with my heart, to this distant shore.
Now comes the time, she approaches by sea.
We meet at the shoreline, just in the lee.
Courage I need, as we stand on this shoal.
Where deep blue waves, so gently roll.
It's time I think, so I take a knee…
My life, my love, Will you marry me?
