Foul Play Poem by Varghese J Kuttikat

Foul Play

That foul play, however foul it be, for a brief spell
Must condemn the player to an eternity of pain and peril
Is scandalous to human ethical sense
Who will willingly choose misery eternal
When he can very well choose bliss eternal?
Is the choice that free, totally free from whisperings subtle?
Won't benevolent powers stretch out their arms to forestall
The fall terrible from heights enviable
To the deeps deplorable where the Devil does dwell?
O Jesus, the Saviour compassionate , all over you tremble
Love incarnate, put away the Judge's mantle
Embrace the sinner, allow him at last serene sleep eternal
