Forever Means Nothing: Poem by T. M. Isaac

Forever Means Nothing:

When promises mean less,
When thoughts turn violent
For the sake of violence,
When words are mere representations,
When dreams are far too realistic
And desires far too simple;
When memories are not entirely too happy,
When time is more a burden than an inconvenience,
When you measure success
by the ability to hang on.

Forever means nothing when covered with euphemisms,
So sickly sterile they seem to euthanise any sense of Love;
When sleep becomes too drastic,
Smiles forge sinister intentions
And drama bathes in neglected efforts;
When days end abruptly
And the moon sews new lines across
Night's motley, silver-lined,
entirely pointless.

Forever means nothing, hidden
Beneath a fabulously make-shift pall,
Gently lain atop dreary recollections.
When disjointed scenes
Glazed with vernal apathy
Bring together novel pains;
When happiness is scented
And the roses all too bright;
When crescent eyes shape new definitions
To supplement a barren dogma.

Forever means nothing,
A singular pretence shovelled
On top of sweetened sounds
That break apart whispered tones before they become audible;
Forever means nothing at the moment,
When blind acceptance overbears
The once anticipated quiet -
When silence overtakes easiness
And echoes so loudly it cannot
Any longer be ignored.
