Forested Wasteland Poem by Joe Morris

Forested Wasteland

The leaves turn to dust
The sky darkens
All around is nothing

A twig breaks under
The weight of a deer
Startling all around

The foreground blends
In with the background
So its hard to see

I wearily pad north
Until I am blocked
Blocked by a burnt tree

I turn back (I think)
I stumble into a ditch
Save me please
