Forced Poem by Alexander Onoja

Forced

Here I stand by your death bed,
Watching you cry and shoot arrows of pleadings.
And of course your overused 'I love you' phrase.

I was a child, but I'm sure you smiled,
When the doctor announced my feminity.
Out of the sexes I was gifted you created an enmity.

Even before my first flow, you forced one out,
As red innocent tears gushed out, a smile escaped your mouth.
You professed your love and called me a woman.

I spent the last fourteen years
Trying to scrub your smell and touch off.
But the more I sponge,
The more I lose a part of me I'm still proud of.

So no more!

My name is Kai, and my only crime was being female,
in a world where I get to take the blame.

My heart bleeds to see you cry,
So please Dad, if you really do love me,
Then please die.
