For All Too Brief A Moment Poem by moon batchelder

For All Too Brief A Moment

for all too brief a glimpse he saw the sun.
the ways it's light was mirrored by the moon
had changed his countenance, - his doom undone!
for all too brief a moment. - fading soon.

for but a minute whom he could become
shone bright as any star in dark of space.
and then, as if by beauty stricken numb,
the glow was sudden gone without a trace!

tho while the skies were black he longed for stars;
he panicked on encountering the light:
- a doe caught in the high beams of a car -
and vanished! instantaneous - from sight!
