For 365 Poem by Kay Ugwuzor

For 365

365,
For every day of my miserable life
I'll always try to live for something
To make up for mistakes I've made
For 365 after
I shall lie on it as it is laid

365,
For every day of my reclusive life
I shall live and not survive
For in oceans endless and deep I take a dive
Though no one swims dearly by my side
365, every day I'll beat the tide

365,
For every day of this disreputable life
That I have lived the irresistible lie
To try and deny the undisputable truth
I am but a puff of smoke that leaves no sooth
365, I shall go back and find my root

365,
For every day of this ephemeral life
And as I stare in the crystal mirror of life
And face a fast fading façade
I am no longer that unclad lad
So for 365, I shall live better than I've ever had

365,
For every day of this unending life
After this passes another will come
Like a droplet hanging off a leaf
After it another will form
For 365; I am that leaf

365,
For every day of this gracious life
I shall finish the race and hope to see the master
Where my sin gathers and grace abound
For I come from dirt and to death am bound
365, getting closer, I'll be better this time around
