Footprints In The Sand Poem by Paul Klobusicky

Footprints In The Sand

FOOT PRINTS IN THE SAND

If life is measured by distance
Existence is on borrowed time
Our lives are
Like footprints in the sand

Like sand castles that are built
Where humans once stood and walked
Thousands lying side by side
Some touching, some standing alone

One by one they arrive
Unprotected from the sun
Different sizes, different shapes
Footprints by the ton

Assembling together
As if it were
New Years Eve
In Times Square

They exist for a period of time
As if they were
Searching for clues
At the scene of the crime

Some will be washed away
When the ocean surfs comes to rest
Others will disappear
From winds of sea knots zest

For life on earth
Is here today
And gone tomorrow
Footprints in the sand
