Fitting In Poem by Nerissa Morton

Fitting In

Fitting in is a hard thing to do
Whether it's finding your place in the world,
Or fitting into those pants which have been in your closet for years

Each take awhile
Both needing a lot of effort and willingness
But if that willingness extends too far you could lose everything;
Everything you have worked hard for
Whether you let yourself indulge in ice-cream
Or you do something like getting drunk and betraying your friends,
They tiniest thing can have a suprisingly big outcome
So, would you risk everything to fit in with a higher crowd
Or would you keep going with how you are;
With the friends you already have
Would you go on an even bigger diet to lose those extra pounds
And risk getting an eating disorder
Or would you continue losing a little bit at a time;
Eventually getting to your dream weight safely
For both there is a good and bad outcome
Losing weight;
You could lose too much weight and become ill
Or you could fit those pants and look spectacular
As for finding your group of friends;
You could get in with the 'popular' crowd;
Loose your original friends
And become a rebel;
Or you could be loved the way you are;
By the friends you already have
