Final Gift Poem by lola cesini

Final Gift

Rating: 5.0

How can I not wish you well
On this your special day
When the world was graced with you
And became a better place
Although I do get pleasure
As I take this little measure
To wish much love and laughter
To you for ever after
I feel I must confess
That I truly do regret
To repeatedly ignore
What your silence implores:

'Be gone my one time friend
let me be, let it end'

So the gift this wish imparts
Is that I'll try with all my heart
From this day forth to do my best
To comply with your request

'To make my farewell endure
to be your friend no more
