Fight The Fight Poem by Ray Hansell

Fight The Fight

Rating: 5.0

I hate this thing called cancer
It seems to appear everywhere
All it really ever does
Is to cause anxiety and fear

First it took my fater
Then it took my mother
Just recently it took my sister
Who knows when it will take another

Now I find myself
In my own private fight
So far so good
But that could change over night

I know there are others out there
Who battle and struggle each day
I know just what they're going through
As they try to chase this demon away

It's a terrible thing to hear a doctor say
I'm sorry to tell you but you have cancer
You sit there in stunned silence
Hoping and praying the doctor has an answer

But I've always had this belief
We put too much faith in doctors
They don't always have the answers
I hope this doesn't shock ya

So when we fight something like cancer
Of course we want only the best
I do believe a majority of the time
We're treated by doctors with a great skill set

So, if you're in a fight against cancer
Fight it with all your might
You'll never know somewhere down the road
You may knock cancer clear out of sight
