Fight Or Run Poem by D.A. Woods

Fight Or Run

My life's like fire, it breathes and destroys,
more destruction of reasoning, one by one they deploy.

I look in the mirror, look at my face in shades of turquoise,
I need wings to mimic the flight of the viceroy.

I need to run from the horror of my mind,
once so fragile, child like enshrined,
more than one in me makes me defined,
I've locked the door and within I'm confined.

No need to sell it - he's been within for years,
punishing my soul, where/when no one can hear,
inner battles without limited frontiers,
goodness always conquers and love endears.

My inner tormoil will last until the day I die,
I don't know how I got this way, when or why,
one day I will have to face the demons and try,
win this battle before my last goodbye.
