February Third (Part Three) Poem by Alexander Roussel

February Third (Part Three)

Will I ever see civilization again
Or more importantly – coffee?
I have been able to text family,
but most of them are in Disney World –
Does that really count as a real conversation
Or just wishful thinking and delusion?
I read through several psalms.
I erase and rewrite the agenda on the whiteboard.
Is this Hell –
And if so, why is there no James Taylor being sung
By anthropomorphic cockroaches (long-story, don’t ask) ?
I still haven’t had any coffee.
Yep. This is the place of Satan –
Or in the very-least Lucifer is at work here.
The room is so quiet I can hear my pulse in my ears!
I’m down to my last celery stick.
I should’ve rationed them better.
Goodbye, cruel world!
Oh, wait! I forgot I’ve a whole sleeve of Ritz crackers.
Oh, happy day!
