Father, Sell Me Off Poem by Saratchandra Sahoo

Father, Sell Me Off

Original Odia by Gajanan Mishra
English rendering by Sarat Chandra Sahoo

FATHER, SELL ME OFF

Papa, we are still bereft;
bereft of ways and means.
Do not wait any longer.
Sell me off
and get pots of money.
I shall also get
a thread of succor and strength
to stay alive,
and all our misery
will come to an abrupt end.

From Gajanan Mishra's maiden publication
SARBANAM published in 1987 and the
poem was first published in Odia daily SAMBAD.
