Saratchandra Sahoo Poems

How was it that
a feeling of impotence
gripped my inner being,
the moment I looked at you
...

You are a slip of a girl,
Nature’s exquisite handiwork,
now out of my sight,
though not out of mind.
...

Let not your words
die on your lips;
let them not die down
deep within.
...

Let us swing together
like twins
in a dreamless sleep
in the swing of silence
...

When your eyelids
begin to droop,
the dark begins to darken
my cosy little world.
...

With the approach
of a few sprinkles of rain
outside the smeared windows,
my thoughts flash back
...

When you tear your clothes off
and wind down
on a soft mattress, all alone
in your dimly lit inner sanctum,
...

Only an inviting smile,
a warm chat

You Are A Mystery!

How was it that
a feeling of impotence
gripped my inner being,
the moment I looked at you
from head to toe
in the narrow untrodden dirt track
filled with prickly pears
prickling your lily-white skin
and the slope of your dimpled chin,
on your way to the river
at the far end of your hamlet
in the drizzling dark?

Fixity in movement
crept into the scene.

Is it your beauty and vivacity
or the figure of your sturdy build
or your devouring look
in your heavily-lidded eyes
that numbed my spirits
to discuss the agend
set since long?

Enlighten me
what is it that has made me
come to such a pass.

I am sure
none but you
knows the mystery.
