Father's Day 2017 Poem by Daya Nandan

Father's Day 2017

You raised me up, you gave me the best,
My father that I know and love, greatest man from the rest,
You watched me grow as time stole your strength and youth,
You hid your troubles from me, without a breath of the truth,

Financial problems upon your shoulders, bills were everywhere
And yet you made it work, you still gave me love and care,
You have raised me despite all the hardships you faced,
Against all the odds and obstacles that fate had placed,

Father, you are the strength that keeps me going when all is lost,
The one man that will keep me breathing no matter the cost,
In my times of despair you have always been my salvation,
Keeping me strong and evoking the fire of my determination,

You have shown me life from a father's view,
Father, you deserve more than a day to thank you,
Every single day of my life is father's day to me,
Your sacrifice and deeds cannot fill up our earthly sea,

Thank you for all the time you have spent to guide me,
An investment to show wonders of the teaching world to see,
From simple tasks to the hardest i know,
Evokes a poem of appreciation for me to show,

There is nothing in existence to compare your worth,
Be it the heavens above or the mountains on earth,
I only wish i could one day be a father just like you,
Teaching my future child lessons of life so true,

I cannot thank you enough for bringing me to this world,
Caring for my well-being as if i am a golden pearl,
For all you have done and all we have been through,
Words of my gratitude are simply not enough to thank you,

You have shown me the meaning of life and i am glad,
I truly am proud to be your son, i love you dad,
If you should face trouble under the earthly sky so blue,
Know that your son will be always there for you!
