Fateful Flower Poem by Anupama Anpat

Fateful Flower

The blooms in the lush green valley
are the onlooker's pride,
what about me?
I was plucked and thrown aside.

My tale begins on a colourful note,
on a glance at me,
'My what a beautiful flower'
people used to quote.

'Cause my beauty was immense,
I was called the grandiose hence.
With petals so soft and velvety,
I was pure form of creativity.

With my exotic perfume
the air got scented and
young hearts fused.

With my colour scarlet red,
lovers conveyed lots of words unsaid.
With the fast blue above,
the cool breeze I used to hug.

But the fate twisted
and to a vase I was gifted.
Now here I am alone and wretched,
with no praising eye to catch.

Still, the blooms in the lush
green valley being
the onlooker's pride,
and I, plucked and thrown to a side.
