Fate Poem by John Davidson

Fate

The coffee will pour smooth and keep its kick
The hot whiskey will make you well when you're sick
When there's a thirst for comfort, the tea will always brew
Because I trust in fate and I trust in you

The summer waves will crash along the golden beach
The diamond stars will always shine out of our reach
Despite the storm in your mind, the sky will shine blue
Because I trust in fate and I trust in you

The engine will roar and the diesel will burn
The boot will go down and the wheels will turn
When you're lost, the road will find somewhere new
Because I trust in fate and I trust in you

The calendar pages will turn again and again
We'll scribble on dates and time will be our friend
The clocks stopped, but only for a moment or two
Because I trust in fate and I trust in you

People will stand tall with a sparkle in their eyes
Their voices will carry and their legacy never dies
Not everyone stays, but we'll always stay true
Because I trust in fate and I trust in you

Those who we love and lose will live through
Behind their steps are their grandchildren's shoes
Heaven's Gates have opened, but this isn't our cue
I trust in fate and I trust in you

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem tells the story about coping with the loss of a loved one. While we search for answers and have no explanation, the world keeps spinning and time will heal us as we try to move on. In the midst of the agony, fate has given us so much joy and life previously. We have to trust in fate when we're at our lowest and looking for something (or someone) to hold on to.
