Falling Apart Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Falling Apart

I sit alone in this empty room
Wishing to see you very soon
Sadness I feel; all day long
Everything I do; I do alone
Can't stop thinking of you; no matter how I try
Your absence; is tearing me up inside
Recalling precious memories; of me and you
I'm all cried out; don't say we're through
The hurt runs deep when you push me away
Tomorrow will be just another long day
Despite the distance; my heart feels you near
I hear your words in my head; they calm my fear
Why must it be like this; it just isn't fair
The loneliness is sometimes; difficult to bear
Feels like I'm drowning; I'm screaming for air
After all this time; please say you still care
Maybe there isn't love; waiting for me
It will happen; if it's meant to be
Letting go is the hardest thing to do
When you love someone; as much as I loved you
There's lessons to be learned through the trials we endure
We'll make it through; even when we're unsure
Things don't always go; as we'd like in life
We'll have good days; combined with a fair amount of strife
We won't be given; more than we can take
We all have choices in life; we must make
You can't live your life in defeat
Hard times is when we learn to stand on our feet
