Fallen 44 A Tribute Poem by Eleonor Santiago

Fallen 44 A Tribute

Not many have the courage to fight
To leave the love ones and give their life
Not many have such great love
To protect the country with all their might

But life is too precious
Specially thou heart is of pure as gold
Like that of the brave defenders
Who fought for justice to capture offenders

Yet too many lives shed their blood
To capture one terrorist in Mindanao
The peace pact could have saved them
But the 44 SAF men were like animals eaten

The shout for justice is everywhere
Loud clamor of my soul to seek revenge
The leaders they followed and obeyed
Where are they... the support or arms
Where are they...

Is this the way to die serving the country
To die and be left alone...
To be tortured brutally shot in the eye
To be shot close range in the head many times

The MILF and BFF says it's a mis-encounter
To worn off with life vest and boots
Is just a mis-encounter?
To kill the 44 government troops
With Arms 100 times more of the terror groups
A mis-encounter..it's just a mis-encounter

My mind defines it a brutal encounter
A fight to death to protect a terrorist
My heart defines it a call for retaliate
My knees enfold may God hold our peace

To the beave 44 SAF Men of the Philippines
I salute to your honorable death
You did not die in vein
For we see despite a poor leadership in our country
You give your life to save humanity
