Fake Smile Poem by Melissa Dexter

Fake Smile

I am scared to come home
I prefer being alone
Every night I stay up thinking… Wondering what will come for tomorrow
Will it be a good day? Bad Day?
How will he act, how might he react
We fight about things not even worth repeating
I wish they could just be deleted
My life is full of complications
Sometimes I do not even want to get up and talk
I want to lay down in bed all day all night
No one knows how I feel
They do not know what to say
Not even a friend can guide me the way
I talk but no one ever listens
They don’t understand
And never will
I just decide to keep it inside
And put on a simile instead
But anyone that knows me, knows that smile is dead
No one needs to know my life
But let me tell you this
I will not go down without a FIGHT.
