Fairy Tales (2005) Poem by Patrick Wescott

Fairy Tales (2005)

Rating: 5.0

Once upon a time
I thought you were the one.
I wrapped myself up in you
and gave my life away.

I should have known
my crimes would return.
And be used as payback
to make yourself feel better.

I do not blame you now,
I should have seen the signs.
Bright and visable to all,
except the fool in me.

Now kisses that once turned
and set fire to my soul.
Only linger as a reminder
of what we've both become.

One last attempt
at a moment of passion,
Only served to hold me back,
and prove that much has died.

You never were the person
I once saw in you.
And I was never to be changed
into the one you sought.
