Fairy-Tale Princes Poem by Michelle Dragonfly

Fairy-Tale Princes

Where is he now?
Your slipper-prince.
What happened to you two?
Did he like you much
After the marriage?
Did he keep you?
Did he throw you away?
Not all guys like those girls
Who never rebel against uppers.

Where is he now?
Your human-prince.
The one you quit being
A fish to be with.
Did he get tired of you?
Did you get tired of him?
Did one of you quit
Wanting to be with the other?

Where is he now?
Your frog-prince.
The one you kissed,
Though he wasn't quite
What every little girl
Always dreams of.
Was he only using you?
Did he abandon you
As soon as something better
Came along?

Where is he now?
Your random prince
Who found you among
The seven little men.
Did he realize
You weren't much
More than a pretty face?
Like every other princess.
Kind, beautiful, loved by all.
But not much personality.
At least, not a compatible one.

Where is he now?
Your daddy, your prince.
The guy who you thought
Would love you forever!
He isn't quite who you thought.
He changed, didn't he?
You got older, and he
Isn't who he used to be.

You're confused.
I get it. I am too.
All of a sudden,
No one's what they seem.
People are changing,
People are leaving,
People aren't who you think.
That's life, I guess.
We can only hope
We find a constant.
