The poet has long known
that 'songs' is 'chansons' in French.
He now knows
that 'chansons! ' is 'nonsense! ' too.

After a short period of relief
that 'poèmes! ' ain't 'nonsense! ',
it niggles,
that 'poèmes! ' IS 'nonsense! ' too.
